8 March International Women's Day is an international day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women. In 1908, 15,000 textile workers in New York went on strike demanding equal labour and voting rights and this step showed the determination of women in their quest for rights. 8 March became a symbol of the struggle for women's rights following this historic movement and was officially recognised by the United Nations in 1977. Today, it is celebrated all over the world to honour the vital role of women in society and their struggle for equality.
Upon the request of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Social Awareness Community, we carried out some activities for this meaningful day. In this project supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University and Saadet Öğretmen Child Abuse and Struggle Association; we prepared brochures, posters, billboards and social media posts. The prepared contents were evaluated to be used at different points of the city and shared on the social media accounts of the mentioned institutions.
Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Fine Arts Student Community and Open Stage Team also took part in this project, and we were happy to take part in this comprehensive work that we fulfilled to be used in both physical and digital environments.
