"Türkçe Sözlük Oyunu" Featured in Groundbreaking Book and Subjected to Rigorous Usability Testing

The innovative "Türkçe Sözlük Oyunu", developed to enhance vocabulary skills among users, has been prominently featured in the pioneering book "Educational Technologies Readings," a significant contribution to the field of instructional technologies in Turkey. This recognition underscores the game's potential impact on educational practices and highlights its innovative approach to language learning.

In conjunction with its inclusion in the book, a comprehensive usability study was conducted by a research team, including the game developers. This study aimed to evaluate the usability of the Turkish Dictionary Game and identify potential areas for improvement. The usability tests were carried out in the state-of-the-art usability laboratory at Middle East Technical University, utilizing advanced eye-tracking technology to gather detailed data on user interactions.

The study group comprised 15 participants from diverse age groups and professions, ensuring a broad perspective on the game's usability. Participants were tasked with completing authentic tasks within the game, while their performance and eye-tracking data were meticulously recorded and analyzed. Observations from these sessions provided valuable insights into user behavior, including difficulties, hesitations, time spent on tasks, and the success rates of task completion.

In addition to the eye-tracking data, the researchers administered a questionnaire to gather participants' opinions on the game's usability and satisfaction levels. The responses were analyzed using text mining techniques, further enriching the data pool and providing a comprehensive understanding of user experiences.

By combining eye-tracking data, observational notes, and questionnaire results, the research team identified key usability issues and developed targeted solutions to address these challenges. The findings revealed specific areas where users encountered difficulties, allowing the developers to refine the game's design and enhance the overall user experience.

This rigorous usability testing not only validated the effectiveness of the Turkish Dictionary Game but also highlighted its potential for further development and improvement. The study's outcomes are expected to inform future iterations of the game, ensuring it remains a valuable educational tool for learners of all ages.

The inclusion of the Turkish Dictionary Game in "Educational Technologies Readings" and the thorough usability evaluation conducted at Middle East Technical University mark significant milestones in the game's development journey. These achievements reflect the dedication of the research and development team to creating a high-quality educational game that meets the needs of its users and contributes to the advancement of instructional technologies in Turkey.
